I have found out that TOP GEAR did a feature including Metropolitans, first broadcast Oct 30 1987. If anyone has this I would love to see it as the car featured was the one I now own, 411 BKN. Also featured in 50s dance routine on Kilroy Feb 14 1992. Please post it!

Have.austins.in.australia.love.them❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I remember watching this when it was first aired
Great part one. Where is part two ?
Nice documentary
Those were the days.
Gas was .20 cents thru the late 1960's. At least in Florida it was.
Going to north wales seeing all the scooters fly past my uncles car planted the seed in my brain then boom started doing the rallies in my late twenties
I Live in Australia. And still own a 1965 MG 1100. I’ve owned 4. 1100’s they are great cars. Australia built 1100’s , but only Morriss except for export I think they made Austin’s for New Zealand.. badge engineering. Great car.
I always thought a Metropolitan was a ice cream sandwich ? 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Seen this when it first aired on TV 33 years ago !!
"If I turn it off I can't turn it on again" Know the feeling
I haven't seen a film strip since Elementary school. Right on.
My friend has a 54 metropolitan. It's mostly a stock car, but some of the parts have been replaced.
This programme is a snapshot of time. Beautiful,
In May 1968, I took my drivers test in 59 Coupe DeVille, Had no problem with the test. Only problem I had was the speedometer stuck on me at 110. I beat it until it became unstuck. My father stuck it at 120, that’s how I knew where to beat it.
When I was young, one lady owner meant a clean car with a knackered gearbox😂
Cute. British (enough said). Clever marketing by Nash/AMC.
Wonderful series!
5:45 And that's why I'm still not liking the idea of having jobs in the sales and marketing department.
death traps
Although it was a well built, mechanically sound car, its appearance evokes Mickey and Minnie Mouse driving down the road.
Great Bob! RIP! I sub to your channel, thanks and cheers Fabrizio - like 222
kik corriesj teppenton rokket ooooo dankewel jesus dak da ammal mag zien im frij tijd haha
Just purchased a 59 Edsel Corsair to go with my others, see comment below
Since this film was shot in 98, the local council spent...god knows how much rebuilding the road system through Swansea for the answer to the traffic problems - bendy buses. Then they scrapped them. A light rail system might have cost 120 million, roughly. How much did the chaos rebuilding Swansea for those sodding buses cost the city? And today, 2023... what's the traffic going to be like next summer... yeah, we all know the answer. Its almost as if there's nobody running the country....
That little Elf is still alive and healthy🙂
Sure that is my brother dancing 5.23
Still pretty ugly!
That was until Derek Mulvaney and the Bud Light disaster!
My mum’s first car. Brought back wonderful memories
I had a 1962 and a 1965 1200
Can anyone tell me the artist and the title of the music that starts at 7 min. 45 sec.?( the part with the female in the dessert with her pink '59).
Ry Cooder Paris, Texas
@@chrishawle1238 thank ypu so much. That enabled me to find it on Spotify :-) :-)
I have a 59 Edsel Corsair here in England UK, something a little different like my Nashes
That car is older than 58, 58 Mets had trunk lids, also Nash Name wasn't used in 58, so it has to be at least a 57 in this video
GJG 655 Morris Oxford is sorn'ed hope it sees the road again soon
Are they all still into scooter scene...
My father and a work colleague actually designed the original concept for the Elf /Hornet shortly after the original introduction of the Mini. They felt that although the Mini was a brilliant design, it did lack stowage space for suitcases etc. so built a mock-up and submitted their design to headquarters at Abingdon, who showed an interest. Production soon followed but no credit was given to the lads.
Excellent video. Very interesting to see some DSs and a Traction made in the English factory at Slough.
Anyone knows where to get Part 2 of this clip?
6:36 I can't help but think that the 1960 Edsel looks somewhat similar to Pontiac Tempest and Pontiac GTO. It's a looker! Ford got the styling right with the third-gen model.
My mother loved her little Riley, until her male work colleagues jokingly would say " here comes Old Mother Riley in her Riley: Google Old Mother Riely. That was it, mother wasn't going to be known as that, so she traded it in and purchased the Wolseley Hornet version instead 😅
He said ,I said he said .I said .Arthur Tipper what a boring old bastard .
I remember these scenes of Cardiff in my childhood they great day's
So enjoyed this. Thank you
0:36 This Mumbles Tramcars Are A Bit Like London Trolleybuses In London In England As Well. Thanks Mate. X
Looks well except for the white back.
My first car was a 1965 Herald 1200 and it was a lot of fun. It turned on a sixpence and you could site on the front tyre to work on the engine. Not that you needed to do much of that, all it ever needed were plugs, points and oil changes.
"And this tube, called the deflooder (6:37), will help burn your Metropolitan into a charred cinder in no time flat."
1:27 - 'Expresso' bar ?!?
The sign at the back of the car "don't touch ,think their was a bed in the trunk? Let's see,big glass ash tray up front ,boozebottle back seat "okay".
